A seminar will take place in the Nano building, Rooms 116-118, at 12 noon on Wednesday, January 23, 2013. The talk will feature Dan Moroni  presenting on the Wave Glider - the first unmanned autonomous marine robot to use  the ocean’s wave energy for propulsion. Lunch will be provided.

Abstract: 
The presentation will go through the details of the Wave Glider and how LRI is working to build a platform to enable others to do ocean research without the high costs and risks of conducting ocean operations. He will cover some of the challenges LRI has encountered building a persistent ocean robot and convincing some of the world's largest industries to shift how they do ocean operations. Amy Rubsamen will talk about the PacX mission and the record breaking trans-Atlantic crossing.
Bio: 
Dan Moroni is a Cal Poly San Luis Obispo graduate with a Mechanical Engineering Degree. Dan joined Liquid Robotics in 2009 and spent the first 3 years in the Engineering group doing platform and integration engineering. Over the past six months he transitioned into the Product Management group as the Product Strategist. In this role he manages the current Product Line and structure which extends from selling robots to data and everything in between.
