Collaborative Human–Automation Robotics Technology (CHART)

CHART Center (Collaborative Human–Automation Robotics Technology), which brings together faculty and researchers from Georgia Tech and partner institutions to tackle foundational and applied challenges in human-robot teaming. CHART develops models, algorithms, and systems that support seamless collaboration between humans and heterogeneous robotic systems—both aerial and ground—to accomplish shared goals in real-world, uncertain environments. By combining expertise in control theory, machine learning, human–computer interaction, and safety-critical systems, CHART aims to accelerate the deployment of trustworthy human-robot teams in domains such as disaster response, infrastructure inspection, and smart manufacturing.

Georgia Center for Medical Robotics (GCMR)

GCMR is highly interdisciplinary, comprised of colleagues from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Emory University, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA), and Morehouse School of Medicine. GCMR serves as a catalyst to advance research in medical robotics and form new research partnerships. GCMR is involved in a wide variety of research areas, including but not limited to: surgical robotics, pediatric robotics, image-guided interventions, imaging, rehabilitation and assistive robotics, prosthetics, human augmentation, and diagnostics and therapeutics spanning different length scales.

Machine Learning Center (ML@GT)

The Machine Learning Center was founded in 2016 as an interdisciplnary research center (IRC) at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Since then, we have grown to include over 190 affiliated faculty members and 60 Ph.D. students, all publishing at world-renowned conferences. The center aims to research and develop innovative and sustainable technologies using machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) that serve our community in socially and ethically responsible ways.

Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI)

GTRI’s Robotics and Autonomous Systems Division is driving innovation in applied autonomy. This group’s mission is to be a pre-eminent leader in the rapid development and demonstration of cutting-edge autonomous robotics solutions for DoD missions and society at large with an emphasis on putting real robots in the real world. The work of RASD spans the spectrum of research from basic to applied, developing advanced prototypes for test and evaluation in environments representative of operational conditions.
